Mohan Yadav Targets Rahul Gandhi, Questions Gandhi Family’s Electoral Choices

Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav attacked Rahul Gandhi and questioned the Gandhi-Nehru family's electoral choices, including why Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi did not contest from Delhi.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav launched a sharp political attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a public gathering in Agar Malwa, questioning the electoral choices and political record of the Gandhi-Nehru family.

Speaking on Sunday, Yadav criticised Rahul Gandhi ahead of his proposed ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ campaign in Indore and accused the Congress leadership of approaching people only during elections.

‘His Entire Family Never Did Anything Good’

Taking a direct swipe at Rahul Gandhi and his family, Yadav alleged that the Congress leader was coming to Madhya Pradesh with what he described as “Jhooth Ki Goonj.”

The Chief Minister questioned the Congress family’s political legacy and claimed that its senior leaders had failed to deliver meaningful benefits to the country.

Yadav also challenged Rahul Gandhi to apologise during his upcoming visit to Madhya Pradesh, adding another layer to the political confrontation between the BJP and Congress in the state.

Mohan Yadav Questions Delhi Election Choices

Yadav also raised questions about where prominent members of the Gandhi-Nehru family contested elections.

Referring to Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, he questioned why they did not contest parliamentary elections from Delhi. He argued that the family’s electoral choices reflected a pattern of moving between constituencies rather than maintaining a long-term connection with voters in one place.

He specifically referred to Raebareli, Amethi and Wayanad while criticising Rahul Gandhi’s electoral journey.

Attack Comes Ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s Indore Campaign

The remarks come ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s scheduled ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ programme in Indore on September 19. The campaign has focused on issues affecting students and young people, including examination irregularities, paper leaks, recruitment concerns, education costs and unemployment.

Yadav used the occasion to contrast the Congress’s outreach with the BJP government’s work in areas such as housing and education.

The exchange reflects the increasingly sharp political rhetoric between the BJP and Congress as both parties seek to strengthen their appeal among young voters and other key constituencies.

For now, Yadav’s comments have added another political flashpoint ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s Madhya Pradesh visit, with the Congress leader’s campaign expected to bring further focus to student and employment-related issues.
