Revanth Reddy Meets Aga Khan to Discuss Telangana’s Heritage Restoration and Development Plans

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy met Prince Rahim Aga Khan V at Taj Falaknuma Palace to discuss heritage restoration, Musi River plans and development projects in Hyderabad.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met Prince Rahim Aga Khan V at the Taj Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad to discuss heritage conservation and several key development initiatives in the state.

During the meeting, Revanth Reddy thanked the Aga Khan Foundation for its contribution to the restoration and preservation of important heritage structures, including the Telangana Legislative Council building and the Qutb Shahi Tombs.

Focus on Hyderabad’s Historic Landmarks

The Chief Minister sought the Foundation’s continued support for restoring other important heritage buildings in Hyderabad, particularly structures located along the Musi River.

Among the sites discussed were City College and Osmania Hospital, both of which hold considerable historical and architectural importance.

Reddy also outlined the state government’s plans to transform the Musi riverfront while preserving Hyderabad’s historic character.

Osmania Hospital Heritage Plans

A key part of the discussion was the future of the old Osmania Hospital.

According to the plans discussed, the existing historic structure could be preserved and developed as a heritage site, while a new hospital would be constructed in Goshamahal to meet the city’s modern healthcare requirements.

The proposal seeks to balance heritage conservation with the need for upgraded public infrastructure.

Musi River Restoration

Revanth Reddy also spoke about the government’s plans for the Musi River, including efforts to improve and rejuvenate the river and its surrounding areas.

The project is expected to combine environmental improvement, urban development and heritage conservation along the historic river corridor.

The involvement of organisations experienced in heritage restoration could play an important role in preserving Hyderabad’s architectural legacy as the city undergoes major redevelopment.

Invitation to Telangana Global Summit

During the meeting, Revanth Reddy invited Prince Rahim Aga Khan V to attend the Telangana Global Summit, scheduled to be held at Future City on December 7, 8 and 9.

The interaction highlighted Telangana’s efforts to combine heritage preservation with the state’s broader plans for urban development and global investment.

As Hyderabad continues to expand, the challenge for policymakers will be to modernise the city while ensuring that its historic landmarks and cultural identity are protected for future generations.
