Prakash Raj Reacts to ED Report on Tirumala Laddu Ghee Adulteration Case

Actor Prakash Raj reacted sharply to the ED's findings on adulterated ghee in Tirumala laddu prasadam, reviving the political row around the TTD controversy.

Actor Prakash Raj has waded back into the Tirumala laddu controversy, reacting sharply after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) submitted fresh findings on the alleged adulteration of ghee supplied for the temple’s famous prasadam.

The ED’s report has identified refined palm oil, palmolein, palm kernel oil and other chemical substances in the ghee at the centre of the case, and the agency has taken action against a supplier accused of adulterating the batch. The findings arrive months after the original allegation that animal fat had made its way into the ghee used for Tirumala laddu prasadam — a claim that triggered a political and religious storm when it first surfaced.

What the ED Report Says

According to the ED, the adulterated ghee linked to the case was found to contain a mix of refined palm oil, palmolein and palm kernel oil, along with other chemical additives, rather than pure cow ghee as required. Acting on these findings, the agency has moved against the ghee supplier accused of supplying the substandard product to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

Prakash Raj’s Sharp Response

Reacting to the ED report on his official X account, Prakash Raj shared the findings with a pointed comment aimed at those who had politicised the original controversy.

“There is no fat in the laddu, except the fat of religious fanatics.” “Just asking.”

The post spread quickly across social media, with the actor’s remark reigniting debate over how the controversy was handled in its early days — when the animal-fat allegation dominated headlines and set off a wave of religious and political outrage.

Not His First Comment on the Row

Prakash Raj has been a consistent voice on the Tirumala laddu issue since it first broke, repeatedly questioning how the controversy was handled politically and insisting that those responsible for any adulteration be held accountable. His earlier remarks on the subject had already put him in a public back-and-forth with Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and this latest post looks set to reopen that exchange.

TTD Maintains Its Standards Are Intact

For its part, the TTD has pushed back on reports questioning the current quality of Srivari Laddu prasadam, saying strict checks are in place for every ingredient used in its preparation. The temple board’s position is that whatever the ED investigation ultimately establishes about the earlier supply chain, the laddus being distributed to devotees today meet its quality standards.

Even so, the ED’s latest disclosures have put the issue back in the news cycle. Online, reactions are split between those focused on the specifics of the adulteration findings and those replaying the older, more incendiary animal-fat claims — a sign that the Tirumala laddu controversy, more than a year on, is still far from settled.
