Harish Kumar from Andhra Pradesh Displays Mesmerizing Skill by Carving Lord Ganesha on a Red Gram Grain
Adoni Class 9 student P. Harish Kumar created a miniature image of Lord Ganesha on a single lentil grain for Vinayaka Chavithi, after nearly 15 attempts.
An eighth-grader? No—a Class 9 student from Adoni has amazed everyone by creating a miniature image of Lord Ganesha on a single lentil grain as part of the Vinayaka Chavithi celebrations.
P. Harish Kumar, son of Sujatha and Raju of Arun Jyothi Nagar in Adoni, created the tiny artwork as part of his interest in miniature art. Despite the extremely small surface, he carefully sketched the image of Lord Ganesha on a single kandi pappu (red gram/lentil) grain.
Harish Kumar is currently studying in Class 9 at Nehru Memorial Municipal High School in Adoni.
Nearly 15 Attempts to Complete the Artwork
Creating artwork on such a tiny surface was far from easy. Harish said he made around 15 attempts before successfully completing the miniature Ganesha.
He credited his drawing teacher, N. Keera, for the special training and guidance that helped him develop the patience and precision required for miniature art.
The student’s work was appreciated by school principal Fayyazuddin and other teachers, who congratulated him for his creativity and dedication.
Teacher Calls for More Support for Art Education
Drawing teacher N. Keera said students are being introduced not only to conventional drawing but also to different forms of miniature art.
He said additional support and training could help students explore their artistic abilities further. He also appealed to the Central and state governments to provide free art and craft equipment to teachers and schools, helping promote art education among students.
A Small Grain, A Remarkable Skill
Harish’s miniature Ganesha may have been created on a tiny lentil grain, but the effort behind it reflects considerable patience, concentration and artistic skill.
His work has become a special attraction during this year’s Vinayaka Chavithi celebrations and has earned appreciation from his teachers and school community.
The achievement also highlights how encouraging young students to explore different forms of art can help uncover talent that might otherwise remain unnoticed.
